Letter from William Dare to John, 4th Duke of Bedford Reads- It being a month since I waited on your Grace at Wooburn and not having a letter since makes me hope Your Grace hath concluded Except of me to continue your tenant. What hath been represented to your Grace concerning my impoverishing your land all my neighbours at Drayton can justify your Graces farm in some pounds per year better by my improvement which is the reason that I am so loath to part with it and before another should take the benefit of my charge and trouble I have been at would be content to be raised ten Pounds per yeare, besides be conformable to any alterations that your grace or your steward should be pleased to make. Whatever hath ben represented to your Grace concerning me I have not stated the least thing to my knowledge that deservs the displeasure of my Lord Duke or His steward, if I have it is through ignorance for which I beg pardon and subscrib myself your Graces etc.
