Letter from Thomas Kemp to Robert Butcher Reads- You promised some time ago to be my petitioner to the Duke for leave to enclose about 12 square ft of ground in the waste adjoining the wall of the parsonage house at Cheam; my intention being to keep at greater distance a very bad neighbour, a pond, which is used to drown the cellars in winter. I tried to see you 2 or 3 times during the last month but with no success. Wld you mention it to the Duke. The water in the pond is now quite low and I would like to take measures against it right away. (Note on back saying that the Duke is quite agreeable to the enclosure)
