  • Scope and Content
Watercolour on parchment: 45" x 75" Surveyor John Davis. 26.6" = 1 mile. Strip map. Very detailed. Appears to have been used as a draft for the 1797 map which Dr. Fowler copied in Bedfordshires Historical Record Society Quarto Mem. II. New houses and small enclosures have been plotted on to the map and some owners names have been added. Houses which no longer existed at this later date are marked with a cross, e.g. the earlier "Oakley House", called "Odell's". Scrollwork cartouche surmounted by a crown; colourful compass rose; scale enclosed by scrollwork. Part of the map cut away - the Ducal arms removed? Table of tenants names and freeholders and "collegeholders". Related Material PU 67/1973
