GK65/38
Title
Deed of Enfranchisement
1) Rt Hon Thos Chas Viscount Clifden. Lord of Manor of Shingay
cum Wendy, Cambs.
2) Alf Richardson of Potton, Brewer
property as above still occ by Thos Kirbyshire.
Consideration 69.15s.6d.
There is a certain amount of obscurity here. Alfred Richardson appears to have absolutely surrendered to Holden in 1894, and yet in 1900 is the copyholder for the Green Man who gets it enfranchised. To make things more confused in GK1/36 the Green Man is listed as part of Holden's Brewery in the sale Catalogue of 1903. It was then presumably bought by Wells & Winch Ltd, although no deed has yet been discovered.
