Lease for 8 years 1) Jn. Gale of Bedford, Shoemaker & Eliz his wife. 2) Wm. Newton of Biddenham Gent. Rooms as follows pt of dwelling ho where Joyce Gitts now dwells, Bedford. hall house, a little buttery there & the cellar underneath the shop, the kitchen with the Chamber over it & 3 other chambers of which 2 are over the shop & entry & the 3rd is over aforesaid hall house. Use of hovell there to lay wood & straw with all the glass, wainscott & other appurtenances about the said chambers as are now occ. by Joyce Gitts Rent 30s. p.a. Clauses granting free access to well & privy in yard 'to do theire necessarie busynes there & also to drye theire clothes there upon the hovell as often as need shall require will not dam up the light of the buttery now opening into the shop there. nor lawful for 2) to sublet except kitchen & chamber over it for one whole year except to Joyce Gitts or to Margaret Yarrowe, widow Mother of Joyce without 1)'s consent. If they die they lawful to let to Joyce Gitts' children.
