Scope and Content
to wife Elizabeth for her life, reversion to nephew Jn Smith (son of the late bro Samuel)
Messuage of tenement where testator dwells in Bedford
to wife:- furniture, plate, linen and household goods BUT dresser in the kitchen, copper in brewhouse, and all the grates and shelves in the dwellinghouse and its appurtenances to remain as 'standards', ie fixtures.
to wife £60 out of money that can be first got in towards her defraying funeral expenses and housekeeping charges until other legacy or interest money comes in.
to wife £500 for own use within 6 calender months of decease + lawful interest AND interest of £500 for life out of personal estate.
On her death then 2nd £500 to be divided as follows:-
£200 to nephew Jn Smith
£50 each to his two sisters, Eliz and Charlotte Smith
Residue of £500, viz £200 to nephews Thos and Edw Smith
to bro Edw Smith £100
to nephew Thos Smith £200
to nephew Edw Smith £100
to nephew Jn Smith £400 when 21, but if dies before that THEN his sisters Eliz and Charlotte to get £100 each and remaining 200 to nephews Thos and Edw Smith to be equally divided between them
to nieces Eliz and Charlotte Smith £50 each
to sister Mary Barber £100
to her son Thos Barber £50
to her 3 other sons not named £40 each
to nephew Abram Stevens £20
to Thos Yorkson of Northill £20
to nephew Jn Gazeley £20
