Quitclaim (i) Wm. Joh, Bedford, gent, at special request of Wm. Musgrave, Riseley, yeo. (ii) Rector; overseers of poor - Essex Woodham, gent., and Walter Lewis; feoffees as above (see P36/25/3) - Parkfield Grove Wns. Susanna Berry, Thos. Chaplin, Geo. Sympson, Thos. Rootham [Enclosure of Riseley (map 1793, award 1796): Churchwardens and overseers exchanged Tumbys Close adj. Park Field (3r 3p) with Lord St.John for a piece of old enclosure (2r 14p) in town of Riseley. The map shows this allotment (2 r.14p) marked "Poors Land", adj. a larger enclosure marked "Church Land" which presumably is the piece of old enclosure (lac. 1r. 30p) described in the award as belonging to the churchwardens and overseers of the poor of Bletsoe. A sketch of the field, and statement in Vestry minutes show that after 1822 it was administered as one property "Riseley Close" and the rents devoted to church purposes and treated as church land]
