  • Title
Account of Joshua Ransom, household goods bought from Langford & Son, ironmongers of Sun Street, Hitchin. [Used as a folder for 'Sundry Papers etc of dear Papa which Edwin does not care to keep - I think I shall keep them' c 1863]
  • Date free text
    1838
  • Production date
    From: 1838 To: 1863
  • Scope and Content
The goods and services include a large range of cooking utensils, furniture and redecorating materials. Joshua's mother died in the spring of 1838 and he married in the autumn of that year (see X67/867). It is therefore probable that the purchases were being made in order to fit up the house at Hitchin ready for his new bride although it should also be remembered that this was also the year in which he bought the property at Kempston.
