Parents, Henry John Brimsley Manners, Marquis of Granby M.P. and Marian Margaret Rolat. Abode, The Mansion, Cockayne Hatley; Godmothers: The Duchess of Portland and Mrs Beerbohm Tree; Godfather: Mr Arthur Balfour M.P. (1848-1930), philosopher and statesman; Prime Minister 1902-1905 - Lady Diana Manners (1892-1986), actress, who starred on the London, Paris, and New York stages. Her most famous role was as Madonna in The Miracle which ran for two years at home and abroad. She was a great beauty of her time and appeared briefly in British cinema, once as Queen Elizabeth I. She married the politician Lord Alfred Duff Cooper, M.P. They were friends with King Edward VIII and Wallace Simpson.
