- Admin/biog historyOxenden House, Leighton Buzzard was built c. 1912 by Thomas Ernest Saunt. It was bought by Owen C Wallis in 1928, and sold by his representatives toThomas O Mills in 1940. It was conveyed by Mills to the Secretary of State for Air in 1941 and used by the RAF as a Group HQ in the last war. The RAF moved out in 1956 and the house remained empty until 1964 when it was sold by the Secretary of State for Air to the County Council as as Remand Home for Boys. It was burnt down in March 1974, and a new remand home was built on the site c.1975. Abstract of title at CCE2065/5.
