    Stevington - Well Pightle etc Manor of Steventon Admission On 28 May 1701 James Lawrence, senr, and wife Ellen, surrendered - pightle pasture (1a) in Stevington, called the Well Pightle W Hamwoods Close E lane in Duck End - reversion of ---another little pightle in Stevington near the Almshouse (1/2a) lying between Browns Close and Edward Massam's orchard ---1/2a meadow in Town Meadow W- E Mr Barringer N the river S Nuns Close to use of said James and Ellen during their lives and life of the longer liver of them, and then to use of James Lawrence, son of above. Provided that James junior pay to his two sisters £20 a piece within one year after his parents' decease. If not paid then Well Pightle to go to use of Mary and other pightle and half acre to the use of Ruth. Ruth has since married Thomas Coe and Mary has married Samuel Placket. James Lawrence survived his wife (who has been dead for some years). He has died since the last Court and Mary and Ruth and their husbands have demanded said £20 from Thomas Lawrence, junior (eldest son of James Lawrence, to whom the surrender was made, who died in lifetime of James Lawrence and wife Ellen) who refuses to pay the same alleging that premises are not of that value, which he has repeated in open Court and is desirous that Mary and Ruth should be admitted on breach of said proviso Mary Plackett being present in Court now prays to be admitted tenant to Well Pightle, which is granted by the Lord rent - 4d fine - 8d
