  • Title
Cross Keys Inn, Luton. With list of later transactions relating to X776/3. 26 November 1821 death of Susan Day. Her 2 daughters, Sarah (who married Samuel Young) and Judith (who married William Cook) both died in her lifetime, Sarah Young in September 1808 and was buried at Luton and Judith Cook in June 1816 (buried St Michaels near St Albans). 10 December 1822 Letters of Administration granted by P.C.C. of effects of Sarah Young to Samuel Young, and of Judith Cook to William Cook. Above Samuel Young and William Cook claim to be paid the legacies of £20 each on grounds that legacies became vested interests in their wives and that payment was only postponed until Mary Hooker came into possession. By reference to "Roper on Legacies" they are clearly entitled to them and so call on Mrs Hooker to pay them.(c.1824)
