    Indenture of Assignment of Mortgage by Demise for 500 years. Parties: (i) Mrs Anne Drage of Harlington, widow and relict of William Drage, gent., deceased, and executrix to Mrs Lettice Wingate, mother to the said AD, late of Harlington, deceased. (ii) Ann Buckingham of Toddington, widow, John Buckingham, Frances Buckingham and William Buckingham, sons and daughter of AB. (iii) George Lawford of Toddington, carpenter. Recitals: Indenture dated 29 September 1699 between Edmund White of Toddington, grocer (1), (ii) (2), and Mrs Lettice Wingate of Harlington, widow (3) in which (1) mortgaged by demise for 500 years, to secure 30, to (3): (a) messuage or tenement as in Z 711/3(a) now in the occupation of Ann Buckingham, the S abuttal described here as the messuage or tenement of Sarah Reeves and general words as in Z 711/1. Habendum: to LW for 500 years sans impeachment of waste at the yearly rent of a peppercorn payable on the feast of St Michael the Archangel under a proviso or condition to be void upon repayment of the principal.That neither the principal nor interest for the same has been paid and the estate of LW is become absolute at law for the unexpired residue of the term. Operative Part: Assignment (operative words 'grant, bargain, sell, assign, transfer, set over, ratify and confirm') by (i), by the direction and appointment of (ii) and in consideration of 35 paid to her by (iii) (at the direction etc of (ii)) and 5s. paid to (ii) by (iii), of the messuage (a) as above. Habendum: (a) together with the recited indenture and writings to (iii) for the unexpired residue of the term of 500 years hereby assigned subject to a like proviso for redemption upon repayment of the sum of 35 17s. 6d. on 20 July next. Covenant (inter alia) and agreement between the parties that until default shall be made in payment, (ii) shall have hold and enjoy the assigned premises to their own use and behoof sans let, suit, trouble or disturbance of (iii). Endorsements: Sealing and delivery in the presence of Katherine Astle and William Martin; and receipt by AD witnessed by KA and WM. Inscribed 'No. 5.'
