To intent that previous rent charge etc should be extinguished To use of said Earl or 3) as trustee for Earl Fine of Hilary Term 53 George III Lease and Release of 21 and 22 October 1816 A) George, Earl of Ashburnham B) Hugh, Duke and Earl of Northumberland Peter, Lord Gwydir Consideration - £19,403 paid to A) by B) A) released to B) - messuage or farm in Clapham, in occupation of John Grant and Thomas Grant, at yearly rent of £400 - Farm, also in Clapham, in occupation of John Bazeley at yearly rent of £180 Farm in Clapham in occupation of John Bazeley, at yearly rent of £330 - Farm in Clapham, in occupation of Joseph Traylen at yearly rent of £133 - Clapham Park Wood (95a 22p) - piece of woodland called Great Stallings Wood - Great Stallings Spinney as more particularly described in Schedule Proviso for redemption on re-payment of said sum with schedule of farm house, lands, state of cultivation and area Against the Grants' farm is note 'This Farm was sold in 1843' Against John Bazeley's farm (rent £180) is a reference to parts being sold in 1843 There are lot numbers and field numbers written against other parts of the other farms Lease and release (endorsed on above) of 9 and 10 June 1824 by which said mortgage debt and security was transferred to George, Lord Loraine, and Robert Vyner, subject to equity of redemption Lease and release (endorsed on above) of 14 and 15 June 1824 by which estates in County of Carmarthen had become security for said mortage debt in place of Bedfordshire property. Lease and Release of 17 and 18 June 1824 by which George, Earl of Ashburnham, being about to reside abroad, vested his property in George, Lord Loraine, and Robert Vyner, on trust for sale. Proceeds to be used to pay expenses and to redeem mortgages. Remainder to be part of personal estate of said Earl. Will of George, Earl of Ashburnham, 26 July 1827. Estates bequeathed to trustees to pay mortgage on his Suffolk estate and subject thereto devised all real estate to son Bertram, Earl of St Asaph. He left £10,000 to each of his other sons and £5,000 to each daughter for their portions. To those who are unmarried after attaining 21, £400 pa until marriage. With provision for further sums for daughters remaining unmarried. To daughter, Lady Sophia Ashburnham £1,000 for her portion or £250 pa as provided by settlement on his first marriage £3,000 pa for wife Provision for servants Estates to trustees. Residue of personal estate to eldest son, Bertram. George, Earl of Ashburnham died on 27 October 1830 will proved (PCC) on 29 December 1830 Deed of 25 October 1844 being an appointment of new trustees reciting that part of real estates of George, Earl of Ashburnham, in Bedfordshire, had been sold and proceeds used to pay annuities etc. With comment from George de Morgan, Greys Inn, 17 September 1862 'The abstract does not shew how the personalty was bequeathed. The vendor must satisfy the purchaser's solr on this point'
