Memorandum for hiring a farm
(i) Lambert Hotchkin, The Mall, Kensington, Middx, gentleman, as agent for Bertram, Earl of Ashburnham
(ii) John William Crisp, Clapham, farmer
(iii) John Crisp, Clapham said Earl agrees to let to (ii)
- messuage called Clapham Park Farm etc
- pieces land belonging (118a 27p) in Clapham late in occupation of Josh and William Traylen reserving all timber to said Earl, and also hunting rights
Term - 1 year from 29 September next, and so on from year to year
Rent - £180 pa
Property not to be sub-let without permission
(ii) will not plough up old meadow or pasture under penalty of £40 additional rent per acre
To use four course system of husbandry
To keep property in repair
Earl will pay (ii) for underdraining
Agreement can be put to end at 6 months notice
(iii) will guarantee payment of said rent and performance of above stipulations
