Before 1985 the civil parish of Shillington included the hamlet of Lower Stondon, which then joined the civil parish of Upper Stondon to form the new civil parish of Stondon. Pre 1985 Lower Stondon material may also be catalogued under PCStondon. Shillington Parish Council was divided into two wards in 1964 and thereafter was known as Shillington & Stondon Parish Council. On 1 April 1985 Shillington and Stondon were divided and became separate Parish Councils. Shillington Parish Council now includes Pegsdon and Higham Gobion.
