Records of Ampthill Baptist Church (formerly Ampthill Union Church). A history of the church was written by Stephen Bunker in 1997: Seize The Day: A Bicentenary History of Ampthill Baptist Church, a copy of which is in the searchroom library (pamphlet box 170).The whereabouts of the early records of the church are unknown and the minute book of 1921-1951 (X 866/1) is the earliest item in church custody. The early history of the chapel in Stephen Bunker's booklet is consequently compiled mostly from other sources such as chapel registration certificates and newspapers held by the Record Office. There are no comprehensive lists of church members extant until the 1980s but Stephen Bunker has compiled an alphabetical list of individuals associated with the church until c.1950 as well as details of pastors from 1797 to date (see appendix two. in Seize The Day, pp.80-91).
