Declare I am 70 years old or thereabouts, lived at Wilden for 47 years, recollect Squire Green owning Wilden Shrubbery farm and late James Dyson Esq purchasing it c1793 with all property at Wilden belonging to Squire Green, later Squire Yeats. Declare never heard that Squire Yeats or his family retained any portion of their Wilden property after the sale to James Dyson in 1793 and such was and is the general belief of my old fellow parishioners. Declare the shrubbery house, offices, buildings, yards and gardens in Wilden containing 2a 3r 12p were formerly owned by Squire Green and Squire Yeats, and that House Close of 10a 2r 17p and Franklyn's Close of 5a 1r 26p except for the part bought by James Dyson, also belonged to Squire Green and Squire Yeats, and the two closes were formed from distinct closes, names now unknown, whose boundaries are clearly visible in House Close and Franklyn's Close and the said House Close also contains some land purchased by James Dyson from the Clare family Declare that 1a 1r 26p in Daumpsey or Downsey Close, 5a 1r 1p Lords Ploughed, 3a 29p Lord's Close, 2r 9p in the Spinney in Lords Close, 2a 1r 17p Homestall Close at Smartwick End, at Shrubbery Farm, Wilden and also 1a 2r 26p the Cuckoo or Cuckows, were a portion of an estate belonging to Squire Green and Squire Yeats, afterwards sold to James Dyson. Declare cottage, farm and garden containing 1r 14p, 3r 18p the Pightle, 30p the Old Lane in Wilden now belonging to the Dyson Family, were purchased by James Dyson from the Grant family c1810. Declare William Knowles was the tenant in 1799 of all the Dyson property in Wilden, before leaving late in 1799 or early in 1800, whereupon James Dyson put me into the said house and lands until he obtained another tenant. Solemn Declaration believing the same to be true made under an Act of 6 Wm IV substituting declarations for and abolishing unnecessary oaths. Declared by John Mays (Signature) before Geo V Swires JP
