    Lease for nine years [enclosed in X 631/27] 1 Edward Green, Wilden Shrubbery, Esq 2 Henry Lovell, Thurleigh, yeoman Lease by 1 to the use of 2 in consideration of £20 per annum - farm consisting of a messuage and 80a lately occupied by William Hawkins at Smartick End, Wilden, except all timber trees and other trees and the lops and tops thereof, save the lops of such trees as are already pollards. Term From the 5 April next [1785] for 9 years. Rent to be free of all taxes and assessments except land tax, and payable in equal instalments at old Michaelmas and old Lady Day. Covenants 2 manage farm according to usages of good husbandry; will not lop, cut or grub up timber trees; preserve all hedges, ditches, gates and stiles; use all dung, manure and compost on the farm alone; commit no waste; 1 to permit 2 to plough the farm before next Lady Day; 2 to leave dwelling house, barns, stables and homestall in tenantable repair, 1 allow 2 £2 pa for first 3 years for dung and compost.
