    Lease for l2 years l. William Barber, Richard Stephens, William Stephens the elder, William Stephens the younger, Nicholas Field, Thomas Willowes, Francis Whitbread, John Rumball, feoffees in Trust for the use of the poor and for the benefit of the lands and houses belonging to the town of Shefford and elsewhere. 2. James Egram, Shefford innholder l. lease and grant to farm to 2. consid covenants and annual rent 40s payable in equal parts at the feasts of St.Michael the Archangel and the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Term: l2 years from the last named feast day. - messuage or tenement with a yard or garding and platt and other the edifices lately erected on the said premises thereunto belonging at Shefford now occupied by 2. Provided always if said rent falls behind or unpaid l0 days after the said feasts it shall be lawful for l. to enter said prems. and enjoy said rent until arrears be fully paid. And 2. agrees with l. that he will not take or carry away at expiraton of said term any of said erected buildings, and also shall build the two chimneys that are now decayed and the house tiled in good and tenantable repair between the date hereof [l8th May l686] and lst November next ensuing, and what is otherwise wanting for needful and necessary repairs 2. and heirs and assigns shall finish within 6 months of lst November next ensuing and maintain messuage in good repair during said term. And 2. and assigns shall not assign, transfer or set over any of said premises to anyone whatsoever without written consent of the majority of the feoffees.
