Title
Bundle of 19 sepia-tinted copy prints of photographs of the gardens and garden buildings including garden staff (at work and leisure) at Mentmore Towers near Leighton Buzzard (see also Z 809/8, 11 and 13 above) including J.W.S. (Joe) Sayell, the father of the depositor.(the original photographs have been deposited at the Buckinghamshire Record Office)
The 19 prints form part of a series of 38 photographs which have all been captioned (names of all persons shown being given) by a
Mrs. Day of Kings Langley and Mrs. Maloney of Linslade. The captions are all typed out, alongside the copy negative numbers (with which each copy print is endorsed), on a separate sheet.
Also enclosed with the bundle is a plan of Mentmore indicating the location of the garden buildings, furniture etc. depicted in the illustrations.
The photographs include a Velocette motorcycle with registration VY 398 [?1931], and hard tennis court (which replaced the Italian
garden).
