- Scope and ContentMainly estate documents and deeds relating to the manor of Asply Guise, Aspley Wood and Aspley Heath. Includes deeds to land owned by the Smith family and later the Sadleir family and sales by the Sadleirs. The majority of the collection is seventeenth century.
- Archival historyBy decent from the Smith and Sadleir families of Aspley Guise to the Moody family. Mary Smith married Lee Sadleir in the 17th century. Ursula Sadleir (a distant relation from another branch of the family) married Edmund Moody of Southampton & Hardley before 1744. The collection passed down to L M Howell of Yateley Vicarage Hants and her neice Sybil. Sybil, although a Moody, took her aunt's married name of Howell on being adoped by her aunt. The collection was deposited with Bedfordshire Record Office in April 1927.
