  • Title
326 Ampthill Road, Bedford. Letter to Alec from his mother. Hope he has recovered from his cold. Bedford is living up to its reputation, about three weeks ago a young wife with 6 children gassed herself a day or two before her husband came home from Holland, she just couldn't face him. Sunday morning a policeman pulled a WAAF out of the river, then Tuesday afternoon a soldier came home on leave, went straight to the back of the electricity works and shot another man, so that means two more homes broken up. I'm sure there never were such goings on in our home town. Letter to Alec from is sister Mary: Sylvia likes her new job, but I can't imagine her driving cows can you? Explains that the soldier who shot the man at the electricity works had heard the other man had been friendly with the soldiers wife. Typed letter to Alec from Freda.
