  • Title
326 Ampthill Road, Bedford. Letter to Alec from his mother. Has received two letters from him. Glad to hear he is alright and being able to floor the tents must make things much better. They are trying to buy him some wellingtons. Saw two or three chaps in town today with spiders on their khaki battle dress. Dad wonders if you saw the King while he was on his tour. Uncle Albert and Aunt Ethel came to fetch some pullets Dad got from Mrs Owen for them. Dad was out on the round helping Madge owing to the accident they had the other day. This place here will become just the wholesale and schools depot and the majority of the bottling will be done at St Johns Dairy, where most of the roundsmen will start from. Have lots of apples and walnuts from Holwell then yesterday managed to get 4lbs of oranges. Dad has taken your boots to be repaired, we couldn't get any more size tens.
