326 Ampthill Road, Bedford. Letter to Alec from his mother. Dad went to see the doctor who said he was run down and should go on the N.H. but Dad doesn't want to. He had rhumatism before when we were at Letchworth, the Dr said this place is very bad for that complaint. Gran and Grandad coming over on Monday and we shall go to Walsworth for a few days. Dairy have been in a rare muddle without him this week. We all went to the Pictures Wednesday afternoon, 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' but I didn't think much to it, Dad would rather have seen a good comic. Have nice ham and plenty of our own tomatoes for supper. Saturday: Received two letters from Alec. Has packed up soap and razors for him. Gordon called he had been in Swanage for a week, they were in private billets there. Postscript in pencil from 'Dad': We shall go out to Holwell this afternoon for a run out with the girls.
