Confirmation by King Henry III of the grant made by Edward his eldest son to John de Grey of the manor of Ruston (Rushton) Co: Chest: Witn. Henry, son of Richard 'Rex Alemannie' the King's nephew (1), William de Valence, the King's brother (2), Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford and Essex, Philip Basset, Hugh le Bygod, James de Aldytheleg' Roger de Mortuo Mari, Adam de Bakepuz, Geoffrey de Percy, William Belet. Dated at Windsor 15 Dec. anno 48 (1263) [1. Richard, Earl of Cornwall, and son of King John, elected King of the Romans and Almaine in 1256 had a son Henry (murdered at Viterbo by Guy de Montfort immortalised by Dante). 2. William de Valence, Earl of Pembroke married Eleanor, sister of Henry III and was therefore his brother-in-law. Fragment of great seal with plaited cord.] The Charter has been mutilated by damp.
