Edward Harris Strange Mary Ellen Strange 9 Feb 1868 Leominster 2.Month 9.1868 My dear Mary Ellen Thou wilt be pleased to receive the enclosed from Edward, which came here this morning. It is quite a relief to me to find he has got something to do, it does not seem a very profitable affair but it will be a beginning and he may after a little time obtain more favourable terms with his present employer, or with someone else - please send it on to Samuel &c &c or the address will perhaps do as well, for there is nothing in it but the fact of his having obtained employment - It is a great comfort to find him occupied, and that in a way he is most adapted for, and as he says himself he is sound and Strong. I do not think he will suffer from the long hours he is at work - at any rate I hope he will stick to it till he can find a better place - His employer may find out in the course of a few months that his abilities are worth more than he is giving him & will advance his 7.8 per week to double that amount. It is near post time & I must farewell with much love Thy affectionate father E.H.Strange Envelope: penny red Mr Strange [deleted] Wedmore & Co Saffron Walden [Postmark: KINGSTOWN] 1 Bridge Parade Essex Bristol England
