Title
Joe Strange to Edward Harris Strange Jan 1851
The Ford Month-1 1851 [
My dear Brother
I have here enclosed a brace of hares and a brace of birds for your acceptance. I should have sent it before but have been unfortunate in that matter, and not been able to get hold of them, I should have liked to have sent another brace or two of birds, but they are so wild my sporting friends could not get near them, we have lots of birds on the farm if we could but come near them & I will endeavour to procure a few brace yet if it is late if I possibly can, as for the game it is very scarce &c
I read your note some time ago respecting our money matters and I am really sorry to say it is not in my power this present year to return the amount I owe you but am in hopes an other year I shall be able to return a part of it if not the whole and I assure you the whole of it shall be paid before we are much older.
I must say that although the times are bad I am not getting worse of the times, but cannot make that progress I should wish but with perseverance and economy I do hope to get the better of all my difficulties
I should be glad to hear how you are getting on in business &c.-
I remain
Yours Truly Joseph Strange
