Samuel May Strange to Priscilla Strange 15 Aug 1848 Hertford 8th Mo 15th 1848 My dear Mamma I want to know if I may learn drawing - I got a trap, & ball, & bat - I was very much pleased with thy letter - How are the ten new pigs ? are they dead or alive - One day my ball was up in the loft, it went so high, that it went into the loft. After Meeting I went & saw a tortoise, I thought it a curious little thing - One day we saw the Blue coat boys. I have been many nice walks, One over the bridge, we took some bread with us, and fed the fishes - They were black fish, they were very much like Tadpoles - I am making a mat for thee - I have got a picture I am trying to copy it nicely. Wilt thou send me my Kite? Is Mary Ellen gone to Ackworth? please give my love to her, and to Papa and all the young folks, and all my Brothers & Sisters, and with much to thyself, I am thy affectionate Son Samuel May Strange Hertford 8th Mo 15th 1848 -
