Edward Harris Strange to Priscilla May c. March 1834 Ampthill 4th day Afternoon My dear Priscilla It is with much pleasure that I acknowledge the receipt of thy short note of 7th day last, containing the most agreeable and satisfactory information and I can now assume that it has fully and completely answered the purpose designed by thee. I ought to have noticed it before this, and feel a little self-condemnation for not having done so, but knowing the goodness of thy disposition a lengthened apology is quite unnecessary. I might have added that a bad headache for the last three or four days has unfitted me for paying much attention to any subject, but it is much better today - and hope will soon be removed altogether. It was a great relief to me that all thy Brothers & Sisters have agreeably coincided with us, it being, I must acknowledge, more than I at first expected, and when the period arrives that is anxiously desired by us both when "all restraint will be unnecessary", we might enter more minutely into these things than can possibly be done on paper - Sincerely desiring that every successive communication from either side may contribute to strengthen the attachment to each other, and permanently [sic] establish reciprocal feeling that no circumstance will ever be able to destroy. Thou would have heard from me much oftener but I was afraid of tiring thy patience by urging on thy attention so frequently the subject under consideration - Hoping to hear from thee again very soon I remain Thy ever affectionate Edward P.May
