Priscilla May to Margaret Sims May c. 26 Nov 1833 [Frenchay] My dear Margaret Thy nicely written letter gave me much pleasure to read and I thought thou wouldst like to have one from me - We often talk of you and wish you were near enough to come & spend a few days with us - little Bessey is a merry little girl & reminds us of Robert thou wouldst like to see her & her little brother. We take a walk every day when it is at all fit but the roads are so very dirty & slippery that we are in danger of falling if we do not take care - we cannot go any walk scarcely without having a number of very awkward stiles to get over so that Emily and I think we shall be very expert before we leave Frenchay. I have seen a very pretty work bag lately that I intend to copy as I think thou might make one very well it is so easy - I have made one bag for myself & am going to make some watch cases & pincushions for Aunt Tuckett in crepe. Emily has made a very pretty work bag in white flowers. Thy Papa & we went over the Moor and on 4th day to Cousin Alfred's. Bessy was rather fretful but thy Papa lanced her gums and then she was much more cheerful, nursing the kitten & tried to get it to sleep but when she found it still kept its eyes open exclaimed "What mean by it."- she calls the baby brother Tuckett.- she sometimes comes and spends a day here of which she is very fond - I was glad to hear my Malay fowls grow nicely I hope you feed them sometimes & keep them as tame as you can - Tell Walter I hope he looks after my plants as I hear he goes to see them sometimes occasionally.- With my dear love to Harriet, Robert, & Walter not forgetting Lydia accept the same thyself from thy Aunt Priscilla. Margaret Sims May Ampthill Bedfordshire.
