    Agreement: [Bassett & Grant: May & Wise] 29 Nov 1825 At a meeting held at Leighton Buzzard 29th of 11th Mo 1825 Between Bassett & Grant & Co and May & Wise - It was agreed that by each party respectively that May & Wise' account with Bassett & Grant & Co should be considered on the same footing as Bassett & Grant's other customers with the following variations, viz - That in all cases where Bassett & Co's Customers may lodge Money or other effects with May & Wise for transmission to Bassett & Co , that the transit of such Money &c only shall be at the risk of Bassett & Co - But in all cases of transmission of Money by May & Wise (or persons authorised by them) belonging to themselves, either to or from Leighton to Ampthill or elsewhere, shall be at May & Wise's sole risk.- That the former arrangement of 1000 in May & Wise' hands on account is allowed to continue and it will be more agreeable to Bassett & Co that May & Wise' balance be kept near that sum in future; yet such limitation is not to prevent the occasional advance by Bassett & Co of from 400 to 600 as it may be required by May & Wise but all advances above 1000 shall be subject to interest at 5 p.ct p.ann - Also that May & Wise shall be at liberty to make {curr} exchanges at the Luton & Hitchin Banks, May & Wise taking in such exchanges, in return, what Leighton notes may happen to be at either of these offices, not exceeding the amount exchanged.
