Letter from W H Derbyshire, auctioneer, estate agent and valuer, Dunstable, to Messrs Longmire, regarding the sale of Mrs Smyth's cottage. Is difficult to sell in a hurry by private treaty '...as parties are almost sure to hold off in proportion as an eagerness to sell is exhibited'. However as a Dunstable person would be certain to be purchaser suggests a week's clear notice would be sufficient. Could sell a week on Wednesday (market day). Would, though, prefer following week.
