  • Title
Draft letter from "T.B." marked "Sent to the Duke of B(edford)" on the writer's having received notice to terminate his tenancy. Gives a statement of his position: "I have but little hopes of being able to pay the rent as left by Mr. Platt unless wheat should on the average produce something like 40s. a load." He had had hopes of gaining the 30 gn. premium. He understands that "Your Grace had shown some displeasure on account of my appeal to Major Gibbard." He defends his pamphlet, and says that he had "the entire approbation of the late intelligent and much respected editor of the Farmers Journal. "I leave my case in Your Grace's hands in the conviction that...the noble family of Russell have themselves felt the bitterness of despotism...that none of them will treat with severity what they may deem erroneous views."
