Compiled by Robert Todd: 2 November 1853 (b) Rules and Regulations. pp3-11 Summary of some of the 26 articles: (Art 1): Society instituted for the purpose of relieving its members in cases of sickness, accidents, mental incapacity, bodily infirmity and to assist in defraying funeral expenses of members or their wives. - (Art 2). Marquees of Bute to be President; Marquess of Bute, Samuel Crawley Esq, Levi Ames Esq. and the Rev. Wm. McDouall, Vicar, to be Patrons and Trustees. - (Art. 7) No person be admitted unless he be either a parishioner or resident of Luton at the time of his admission, nor without the consent of the majority of the Committee and stewards. - (Art. 9) No member to be more than 30 years old on his admission, and shall be of good reputation, in perfect health, free from natural infirmities and not subject to be disordered at particular seasons of the year.
