  • Title
Three drafts of a letter from Humphrey Brandreth to the Rev. Mr. Smyth, the Vicar of Houghton Regis, who had sent him a copy of a resolution of the Vestry about the pair of the churchyard fences, apparently relieving the Vicar of this duty. H.B. points out that the Vicar can no more be relieved from obligation to keep up the E and N fences of the church yard than can Brandreth as rector from repairing the chancel. 'There can be no doubt that the whole of the old Vicarage formerly formed a portion of the Church Yard, when the attendant monk lived in the ? Bead the scite of the present Workhouse Row. The quantity of Human bones and ? earth which you had removed when the National school House was built amply testifies.
