The 3rd East Anglian Regiment, later part of the Royal Anglian Regiment. In 1959 the 3rd East Anglian Regiment (16th/44th Foot) was formed from the amalgamation of The Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment (16th Foot) and the Essex Regiment (44th/56th Foot). On the 1 September 1964 the 3rd East Anglian Regiment became part of The Royal Anglian Regiment which were formed from the amalgamation of the Royal Norfolk Regiment with the Suffolk Regiment, and the Northamptonshire Regiment with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment.
