Walt. then lord of the Prebend, which she then held from the same mag. Walt., abtg. S. on the rd. to the vill of Forda and N. on past of the Canon of the Prebend; paying 1/2 a mark in gersum to Emma, and 6d. a year to the lord of the Prebend. wtns.: Phil. Marescallus, Griffin Walensis, Adam Page, Robt. le Lauender, Robt. Aye, Gilbt. the Canon's servant, Hen. ?Ayilsvet. seal: S'EMME FIL WALT; conventional flower. (Note: this charter gives the names of the first prebendary and of the first Chaplain of Herne Chapel at present noticed. Phil. Marescallus occurs in the Newnham Catulary as contemporary with Prior Harvey (1225-38), and Griffin Walensis in 1247 Eyre.
