- Scope and ContentPriscilla Yates: her husband kept the Richard the Third alehouse in London Road, Luton. On 27 December, Joseph Wilson bought a sack containing beans and laid it in the passage of her husband's house. William Robinson was in the bar; she left him there and saw the beans as she passed through the passage to the kitchen. Wilson enquired of the bean, they were discovered missing and Robinson and his wagon were gone. Joseph Wilson: went to the Richard the Third alehouse and left his sack of beans against the bar door. He went to the tap room. Both of the accused came into the tap room, they left before him and the sack was gone. He followed Robinson's wagon and saw 2 sacks, one of which was his. Robinson said it was his. Everitt said Robinson had told him to put it in the wagon. John Millard: took the accused into custody and Robinson told him he was very sorry and he knew he had done wrong. Everitt said that Robinson had told him to put the sack on the wagon. John Bates of Biscott Luton on behalf of William Robinson - stated he had know the accused for over 15 years and employed him for between 6 and 8 years. He belived him to be a remarkably honest and steady man.
