- Admin/biog historyFound after the death of the Rev. F.B Williams in June 1979 and given by the Rural Dean on 6 September 1979 Frank Burgess Williams was born 21 September 1891 at Nutfield and died 24 June 1979 at Olney. From 1957 he was Rector of Houghton Conquest in Bedfordshire. He had been a brother of the Holy Cross, an order founded by Father George Potter (Canon Potter) about the year 1924 at Peckham. Frank Williams (Father Francis) joined him in 1925, and appears in two books written by Canon Potter: "Father Potter of Peckham", 1955 and "More Father Potter of Peckham", 1958. Frank Williams was ordained deacon in 1945 at Southwark and priest in 1951 at St. Albans. From 1948-1957 he served at Holy Trinity, Waltham Cross (St Cyprians Friary) then associated with the Brotherhood and in 1957 he was presented to Houghton Conquest. He resigned in May 1978 and died in June the next year. The Brotherhood of the Holy Cross was dissolved in 1963 after the death of Father Potter in 1960.
