Admin/biog history
Francis Cecil Rickards (1911-1994) was born in Newcastle upon Tyne. He was an engineer and lived in various locations before coming to Luton in the late 1950s. He lived in Bramble Road, Leagrave, Luton from 1958 until at least the mid 1980s. On Sunday mornings he would go out to local villages around Bedfordshire on his moped to sketch churches and old buildings. He then made pastel drawings from the sketches. Mr Rickards died in Milton Keynes in 1994.
Archival history
Francis and his wife Isobel had two daughters. These items were sent by one of Francis' daughters to The Higgins Museum, but as they did not meet their collecting policy they were transferred to Bedfordshire Archives.
