Scope and Content
In the name of God Amen I Thomas Day of Luton in the county of Bedford yeoman doo (do) make and ordaine (ordain) this my last will and testament in manner and forme (form) following that is to say ffirst (first) and principly (principally) I commend my soule (soul) into the hands of Almighty God my creatour (creator) and maker trustinge (trusting) and assuredly believing that through the death and passion of Jesus Christ my redeemer to have and injoye (enjoy) eternall (eternal) life in the Kingdome of heaven and my body I commite (commit) to the earth to be decently buryed (buried) at the discretion of my hereunder named executor and for such worldly goods as God hath blessed with me all I give and devise them in manner and forme (form) following that is to say item I give and bequeath unto my loving son Henery (Henry) Day the sum of thirty pounds of good and lawfull money of Great Britian (Britain) to be payed (paid) him within telve months after my decease by my hereunder named executor Item I give and bequeath unto my loving son Peddar Day the sum of twenty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britian (Britain) to be payed (paid) him within twelve months after my decease by my hereunder named executor Item I give and bequeath to my son John David the sume (sum) of one shilling to be payed (paid) him by my hereunder named exeuctive. Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Thomas David the sum of ten pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britian (Britain) to be payed (paid) him when he shall attaine (attain) to the age of one and twenty years by my hereunder named executor. Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth David my granddaughter the sum of five pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britian (Britain) to be payed (paid) her when she shall attaine (attain) to the age of eighteen years by my hereunder named executor. Item I give and bequath uto my loving daughters Elizabeth David and Alison Day all my linning (linen) to be equally to be divided between my for named two daughters after my decease. Item it is my will and meaning that if it should happen that the forenamed (aforenamed) Henry Day and Peddar Day and Thomas David and Elizabeth David my granddaughter should die afore the time aforementioned in this will that the forenamed (aforenamed) legecys (legacies) be payed (paid) to those heirs as they shall become due by my Iheire) here undernamed executor. Item I give and devise all the rest and residue of my goods and chatttels bill bonds rights and credites (credits) whatsoever unbequeathed my debts and legecys (legacies) being first payed (paid) and my funerall (funeral) expenses discharged unto Alison Day my daughter whom I nominate and appointe (appoint) sole executor of this my last will and testamente (testament) In wittnes (witness) whereof I the saide (said) Thomas Day have hereunto sett (set) my hand and seale (seal) the first day of June anno domini 1709 and in the eight (eighth) year of the reigne (reign) of our most precious sovereigne Lady Anne of Great Britian (Britain) France and Ireland by the grace of God Queene (Queen) Defender of the faith
