My Lord, According to the news from Madrid, there is a vacancy coming up so now is the time to beg a favour and I take the liberty of asking your Excellency to speak to Monsieur le Comte de Ricla to remind him of me so that I may be included; at the same time praying Your Excellency to forgive me if I am importunate, but having no other protection than that of Madame la Comtesse Douairiere de Balliencourt and that with which Your Excellency honours me, I hope that you will not think it a bad thing if I obtain some favour. I would be eternally obliged to you as also to My Lord Rochford, who had procured it for me.
