The front section mainly contains technical information relating to the efficiency of milling machinery (e.g. analysis of fuel oil, the cost of coal, dimensions of cylinders). The final half is devoted to grist and moisture testing. Loose papers include a blank William Simmons receipt, a scrap of paper with handwritten notes headed 'Loss by evaporation' and a typed list headed '5qrs wheat yields'.
