  • Scope and Content
Refers to the letter written to Grantham on 11 [10] December, and has sent twice to Mr. Zeno, but has not been able to get the book. Will have to wait upon Mr. Zeno himself. According to Grantham's orders he has paid the courier Mr. Stedman 50 Louis in gold, and for his own reimbursement, Lambert will draw next post upon Mr. Nathaniel Draper £52.10.-. Grantham has better information of what passes in Paris than Lambert could give. Mr. Franklin's arrival occasioned various speculations: some people think that his coming over with the family appeared as if he would get out of the scrape, others, notwithstanding the great preparations of war on all sides, hope still that peace may continue. Lambert hopes also that (if Grantham likes it) one day Grantham will be Ambassador at Paris.
