  • Scope and Content
Hears from tolerable authority that the Wellesleys have been on the point of retiring from office & expected to take with them Canning & the Duke of Richmond. They are much disconcerted with Castlereagh. The King [George III] does not countenance them & compares Sir A's return to that of General Burgoyne after Saratoga. The Marquis of Buckingham has been corresponding with Sir A & speaks warmly of their friendship. Should not be suprised at a reconciliation between Lords Grenville & Wellesley; latter not in favour with King.
