- Scope and ContentApprenticeship Indenture: Jane Abbot daughter of Sarah Abbot of Ruxox Farm, Flitwick, farmer, by and with the consent of her said mother testified by her executing these presents doth put herself apprentice to Eliza House of Woburn, milliner and dressmaker. From the 3rd April for the term of three years. Eliza House in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds to her in hand paid by the said Sarah Abbot on the execution of these presents thereof on the execution of these presents and the remaining moiety on the expiration of half the time of the apprenticeship if the said apprentice shall be then living and in the service of the said John Steers. Her said apprentice in the art or trade of a milliner and dressmaker which she useth by the best means that she can shall teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed finding unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and lodging during the said term. Sarah Abbot hereby covenants to provide her daughter with clothes medicine washing and all other necessaries except as hereinbefore mentioned during the said term. In witness whereof the parties above named to this indenture have put their hands and seals the 10th day of April 1854. Signed; Jane Abbot; Sarah Abbot; Eliza House. Witnessed by William Harland, Clerk to Mr Green, Solicitor, Woburn. Receipt on dorse for £30 signed by Eliza House witnessed by William Harland, Clerk to Mr Green, Solicitor, Woburn.
