- Scope and ContentI am about 22 years of age, was born in Biddenham, where my father now resides. On Old Michaelmas Day 1831 I let myself to Mrs Bailey of St paul, bedford as a servant man until Old Michaelmas Day following at the wages of eight pounds a year. I then let myself to her for the following year at the wages of ten pounds. i continued with her until Old Michaelmas Day 1833. I then put myself apprentice to Thomas Chamberlain of St Peter, shoemaker and remained with him about six months when I left him and put myself with Thomas Valentine, St Paul, shoemaker and continued with him about six months. I then worked as a journeyman until last April when i set up for myself as shoemaker in Biddenham where I now reside. I was married on Friday 3rd instant at St Paul to Sarah Brown.
