In 1889 the Mission Church was expanded when a chancel was added to the nave. In 1892 Revd. John Charles Trevelyan was appointed priest-in-charge of the Mission, and in 1893 St. Saviour's became a separate parish with Father Trevelyan as its Vicar. The foundation stone of the north aisle of the present church was laid on 3 May 1897 and the building was dedicated on 9 May 1898. Delays meant that the foundation stone of the nave adn chancel was not laid until November 8th 1904, and the extension was dedicated on 15 November 1905. The south aisle remains unfinished. After the construction of the new church the original Mission Church, which still stands behind its replacement on St. Saviour's Crescent, became the Parish Room.
