- TitleDraper, London to Grantham Sorry Grantham lost a useful servant in Stedman, may be difficult to replace. But his conduct shows he was clearly dishonest. His 'wife' and her mother having left their house at Kensington for a time, the 'wife' still out of town, unable to discover whether there was a marriage. Mr. Waddilove should be able to find out from letters in Stedman's possession at his death. Deceased owed the mother about £50 for board, lodging, money lent. Broke promise to remit the money to her, did not answer her letters. Wishes not involved in export of Poplins, as they could as woollens, their export from Ireland therefore illegal, as prejudicial to the trade of Great Britain. Suggests (re freedom of Corporation) enquire of Achmet how best to make a donation for relief of poor Irish weavers, of which there must be a great many, considering the restrictions placed upon the trade.
